Dr. Serfaty currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona and is the former Vice President of Sales with Sonora Quest Laboratories, LLC a joint venture between Quest Diagnostics (a Fortune 400 company) and Banner Health (the largest non-secular health delivery system in the U.S.). Sonora Quest Laboratories along with Banner Health System together make up one of the largest integrated laboratory networks in the nation, with more than 2,500 employees in Arizona. Prior to joining Sonora Quest Laboratories, he was the Regional Director for Quest Diagnostics' Mexico operation based in Mexico City where he resided for 8 eight years while on assignment.
Before joining Quest Diagnostics through its purchase of SmithKline Beecham Clinical Laboratories (SBCL), Dr. Serfaty was the General Manager of Laboratorios MSB. He was instrumental in negotiating, creating and implementing Laboratorios MSB, a joint venture laboratory agreement between SBCL and Medica Sur. Medica Sur was and continues to be one of the largest privately owned integrated health care delivery system in Mexico. It is wholly owned outreach laboratory now boasts over 30 Patient Service Centers throughout Mexico City and surrounding areas. Dr. Serfaty earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas - Facultad de Medicina. A 6 year program in medicine from a public nationally accredited medical school located in the northern state of Tamaulipas, Mexico. Listed in the International Medical Education Directory where a one-year internship, a one-year social service period and a Professional Examination are required for award of the final medical diploma, the Titulo de Medico Cirujano (Physician and Surgeon Degree). His one year internship was completed at Memorial Medical Center and Driscoll Children's Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Medical Degree Statement of equivalency is credentialed by World Educational Services.
Although not licensed in the US, Dr. Serfaty has a passion for the application and crossover between the life sciences and technology - in particular, finding solutions for cost effective and quality healthcare.
He is active in the local community through volunteer work with healthcare related nonprofit organizations. He was the Vice Chair for the Board of Directors of Aunt Rita's foundation, a nonprofit organization which raises and equally distributes money to Central Arizona programs that prevent HIV/AIDS or assist those living with HIV/AIDS. Aunt Rita's Foundation accomplishes this through direct public education and signature fund-raising events. He served as the past Corporate Sponsor Lead for the American Cancer Society's "Climb for a Cure" and past corporate sponsor Board Member for POPs (Prostate Onsite Project).
He is well-traveled internationally, having lived in the United Kingdom, France, Mexico, and Puerto Rico, before his family settled in south Texas. Dr. Serfaty is fluent in English, French and Spanish.
